Directions:

The Snakeden Branch is a stream that flows between South Lakes Drive and Glade Drive and eventually feeds Lake Audubon. This walk covers that portion of the stream between Soapstone Drive and the rear of the Hunters Woods Village Center. Most of the walk is wooded and paths on both sides of the stream are utilized.

  1. The walk starts at the rear of the Glade Recreation Center. Continue straight on the wide asphalt path along the side of the pool. Houses should be on your left and Soapstone Drive on your right.
  2. A wide asphalt trail intersects on the right. Continue straight on the present path. Another trail intersects on the left. Continue straight on the present path.
  3. At the next trail crossing turn right and follow the wide asphalt trail across the Snakeden Branch.
  4. Two trails intersect close together on the right. Continue to the left on the present trail.
  5. A trail intersects from the right going to a street. Continue straight on the present trail.
  6. A trail intersects from the right going towards buildings. Stay on the trail to the left.
  7. A narrow asphalt trail intersects from the right going between buildings. Stay straight on the present trail.
  8. The trail comes to a grassy clearing behind homes. To take the park loop turn right and follow the narrow asphalt path up the hill between the homes. Go to point 9 in the directions.
    To take the short loop turn left along the wide asphalt trail. Go to point 21 in the directions.
  9. (Park loop) Upon reaching the street turn left and follow the sidewalk along Wheelwright Ct.
  10. Cross Olde Crafts Dr. and follow the sidewalk along Cartwright Pl.
  11. Continue straight on the sidewalk where the street turns right. The sidewalk leads into a wide asphalt trail with a play area on the left.
  12. Cross the second appearance of Olde Crafts Dr. and take the sidewalk on the right side of Barrel Cooper Ct.
  13. Turn right onto the asphalt path at the entrance to South Lakes Park.
  14. Turn left at the first asphalt trail intersection and then right after a very short distance to proceed down a hill.
  15. At the bottom of the hill turn left to follow a wide asphalt path along the streambed.
  16. Turn right and cross the stream at the next trail intersection. After crossing the stream the trail turns left.
  17. Turn left at the next trail intersection and re-cross the stream.
  18. The trail goes behind houses. Go straight at the next asphalt trail intersection from the right.
  19. Turn right at the next trail intersection behind the houses. Continue past a narrow asphalt trail up the hill towards the houses to the left.
  20. Turn right at the next wide asphalt trail intersection. The short loop rejoins the park loop at this intersection. Go to point 22 in the directions.
  21. (Short loop) The trail crosses the grassy area and enters the woods. After a very short distance a wide asphalt trail intersects from the left. Turn left to rejoin the park loop.
  22. (Both loops rejoin) The trail crosses the Snakeden Branch.
  23. A wide asphalt trail intersects from the right. Continue straight on the present trail.
  24. A wide asphalt trail intersects from the right. Continue straight on the present trail.
  25. Turn left at the next asphalt trail intersection. The correct trail goes behind the houses while the incorrect trail goes in front of the houses.
  26. Turn right at the next wide asphalt trail intersection. The trail heads away from the stream. It passes a narrow asphalt trail intersecting from the right.
  27. Narrow asphalt trails intersect from the right and the left. Continue straight on the present trail.
  28. The trail intersects with Glade Drive. Turn left to follow the wide asphalt trail along Glade Drive.
  29. The tennis courts on the left mark the return to the start of the walk.
