The walk starts at this sign on R St NW east of 31st St.

Take the paved path away from R St next to the wall going down the hill. This is Lovers Lane.

At the bottom of the hill the path to the left goes to Dumbarton Oaks Park.

The path to the right heads towards Rock Creek. Continue straight and up the hill on the current path

Rock Creek can be seen to the right when the leaves are off the trees.

The building on the left is the Italian embassy.
